Primary aims of the workshop
The primary aims of the workshop are to:
1. Develop new research proposals and pilot studies that often leads to successful competitive research funding for large multicentre, international clinical trials.
2. Engage and mentor ANZCA fellows, trainees and research co-ordinators and nurses to conduct clinical trials at their hospital site.
3. To discuss important research methodology and other topics relevant to the sector, for example, consumer engagement in clinical research, remote monitoring, the use of new digital technologies to facilitate peri-operative care and pain management clinical trials.
4. Provide educational sessions and mentorship for emerging researchers at the workshop strengthening the research workforce for early-mid career researchers.
The CTN has established a pathway for investigators to refine their protocol and develop early research concepts through peer reviewed feedback from trial experts, keynote statisticians and workshop delegates.
These explorative studies are funded by ANZCA Foundation through the pilot and project grants schemes, to generate important pilot and feasibility data which subsequently optimises competitive large grant opportunities to run the international multicentre clinical trial.
